District Attorney Kamala Harris Joins Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and Harry Denton to Honor Homeless Mothers on Mother's Day.


SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  -- Harry Denton's:
WHAT:   SF Board of Supervisors proclaim Mother's Day, May 8,
            2005, a day to honor all the homeless mothers in San
            Francisco. District Attorney Kamala Harris along with
            Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and Harry Denton will honor 28
            homeless mothers living at Hamilton Family Center with a
            special day of pampering to include a private Mother's Day
            Brunch complete with live entertainment and a birds-eye
            view of San Francisco. Brunch will be served by Harry
            Denton himself at his famous namesake top-floor club --
            Harry Denton's Starlight Room.

            In addition, the homeless mothers will be treated to hair
            styling and make up sessions in the morning before brunch
            and ride in luxury limousine to the Starlight Room. This
            is the 20th anniversary of Hamilton Family Center.

    WHEN:   Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8

            10:00 am   -- Hair and make up sessions (provided by Koko
                          Represents) at Hamilton Family Center --
                          260 Golden Gate Ave (largest homeless family
                          shelter in SF)

            11:30 am   -- Mothers board luxury limousine (provided by
                          Bauer's Limousine) headed for Harry Denton's
                          Starlight Room

            12:00 noon -- Harry Denton and District Attorney Kamala
                          Harris welcome mothers to Sir Francis Drake
                          Hotel and Harry Denton's Starlight Room --
                          450 Powell Street

            12:30 pm   -- Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi gives proclamation
                          and brunch is served on the dance floor of
                          Harry Denton's Starlight Room (Catered by
                          Scala's Bistro)

            2:30 pm    -- Mothers return to Hamilton with gift bags
                          filled with donated goodies from See's
                          Candies, Trader Joe's, Time Inc, and 7x7
                          Magazine.

    WHO:    28 homeless mothers, District Attorney Kamala Harris,
            Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and Harry Denton. All will be
            available for interviews.

    WHY:    This day is designed to recognize the hard-working mothers
            staying at Hamilton Family Center, an organization which
            helps homeless families rebuild their lives and transition
            to independent living. This is a tradition started 11
            years ago by Harry Denton.
