Distributors' group starts search for new president as Nappi moves.


Ralph J. Nappi, who has been with the American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of  Machine Tool Distributors' Assn. The AMTDA AMTDA American Machine Tool Distributors Association  board of directors' executive committee is serving as the search committee to find a new head staffer. The board is chaired by James C. Addy, CMTSE, president of Addy Machinery Co. Inc. (Clinton, Mich.), and the search process is being led by board member and former chairman (1994-95), John F. Hackenberg, CMTSE, president of J&H Machine Tools, Inc. (Charlotte, N.C.). The board requested that a present AMTDA staff member be represented during the search; Debbie Vieder, AMTDA director of education and communication, fills that role.

Nappi, 47, will remain in his current role throughout the next semiannual Semiannual

The organization he moves to represents over 400 companies that manufacture and distribute equipment and supplies used in printing and publishing, and it also houses the offices of a graphic-arts-show company and an education foundation.

Ralph Nappi became president of AMTDA in late 1993. He had been its vice president and was highly regarded by the members and staff when he accepted a post with another trade association in Chicago.
