Initially, the partnership between DMTF and INTAP will be focused on event delivery and management, CIM query, CIM-Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), and related technologies for the exchange of management information between systems.

Available to non-profit, industry standards organizations A standards organization, also sometimes referred to as a standards body, a standards development organization or SDO (depending on what is being referenced), is any entity whose primary activities are developing, coordinating, promulgating, revising, amending, , the DMTF Alliance Partner program creates collaborative relationships for the unification and enhancement of management standards. As an organization, INTAP is focused on defining mechanisms and formats for interoperable management between vendor systems. INTAP has developed a phased approach to solving management data exchange and tests interoperability at each stage.

"The work that INTAP is doing in the area of interoperable event messaging In IP telephony, any time the status of a call control device or end point changes, an event message is sent, such as asking for permission to drop the call. See IP telephony.  between systems will provide valuable feedback and improve future work on DMTF's WBEM Specifications and the CIM Event Model," said Andrea Westerinen of Cisco, vice president of technology, DMTF. "This partnership will help raise the visibility and accelerate the adoption of WBEM and CIM not only in Japan, but internationally as well."

The alliance will provide a channel for DMTF to receive requirement and design input as well as implementation feedback. Initial collaboration will be between INTAP's OSMIC Project and DMTF's WBEM Interoperability Working Group.

"INTAP recognizes the value of WBEM, CIM and the overall work of the DMTF," said Motoaki Hirabayashi, OSMIC executive planner of technology. "We look forward to helping advance the industry and the goal of interoperability with the DMTF."
