SYLVAIN DISTIN is determined to keep enjoying his Indian summer at Everton.

Distin, signed from Portsmouth in 2009, will have another season with the Goodison outfit after his contract was extended by a further 12 months.

The 34-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign which was rewarded earlier this month when he was named the club's Players' Player of the Season.

And the French centre-back is intent on extending his Goodison career beyond the end of next term.

"I want to carry on as long as I can," said Distin. "I don't need a boost. No matter what happens, you can be sure I'll be there the next day.

"It's a good squad here with a great atmosphere. I feel so comfortable with the lads, so it's a pleasure."

Asked if the award from his team-mates would give him a lift for next season, he replied: "I don't need any boost to go into next season. I love my job and I know how lucky I am to do this kind of job.

"I've won one or two before, but this one has a special flavour.
