Dissident parish pays back dues.


Departing members of the parish of Holy Cross, a Japanese-Canadian parish in East Vancouver East Vancouver (also "East Van" or the "East Side") is a region within the City of Vancouver, Canada. Geographically, East Vancouver is bordered to the north by Burrard Inlet, to the south by the Fraser River and to the east by the city of Burnaby. , paid the parish's back assessment of $30,290 to the diocese of New Westminster New Westminster, city (1991 pop. 43,585), SW British Columbia, Canada, on the Fraser River, part of metropolitan Vancouver. Founded in 1859 as Queensborough, it was the capital of British Columbia until Victoria was made capital after the union of British Columbia  before they left the church in late 2005.

The parish had withheld its annual contributions following a 2002 diocesan council decision to allow the blessing of same-sex unions in the diocese.

After the parish's elected wardens, treasurer and several members of the parish council announced their departure from the parish late last year, diocesan bishop A bishop in charge of a diocese. The Right Reverend Michael Ingham (born 1949 in Yorkshire) is a bishop and theologian.
 invoked diocesan Canon 15 and appointed new bishop's wardens.

Most members of the parish council left the parish after their rector, Rev. Dawn McDona/d, decided to take charge of a parish in the diocese of Yukon.
