The Rhino-probe Curette cu·rette or cu·ret

A surgical instrument shaped like a scoop or spoon, used to remove tissue or growths from a body cavity.

To scrape tissue or a body part with a curette.
 is a sterile, disposable nasal mucosal collection device designed to collect the optimum specimen with little or no discomfort to the patient. Mucosal specimens collected may be evaluated to differentiate between allergic, nonallergic, and infectious rhinitis, as well as to differentiate between bacterial and viral infection.

The Rhino-probe provides improved accuracy in diagnosing chronic rhinitis; aids in the detection of respiratory syncytial virus respiratory syncytial virus (sĭnsĭsh`əl): see cold, common.  in children; provides consistent, uniform mucosal samples (100 to 1000 times more cells than any other method); allows screening for infectious disease; and helps with following the course of disease and monitoring of treatment. Cells do not adhere to the device, and no degranulation degranulation

the loss of granules; usually refers to the secretory granules in certain cells, e.g. pituitary chromophobes, acidophils and basophils. In basophils and mast cells, it is associated with the release of active substances from the cells and is characteristic of type I
