DisplaySearch Conference to Examine the Future of TVs.

Major themes throughout the event will include three that are important to the future of TVs: the transition to HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates , the market outlook for flat panel and microdisplay technologies, and continuing performance improvement and lowering costs in flat panel technologies. On Day 1, multiple keynote speakers will discuss their outlook for the future of the TV market:

--Jim Sanduski, VP of Marketing, Visual Display Products Group, at Samsung Electronics, will examine the changing HDTV landscape and their North American market outlook by TV technology, as well as the seasonal nature of the TV market.

--Deborah Nelson, Personal Systems Group VP at HP, will examine trends in the digital entertainment market where computers, communications and consumer electronics are converging. She will share HP's vision of the future where we each create the entertainment experiences we want and where flat panel displays are everywhere.

--Donald McNaughton, SVP at Corning, and Bert Park, Worldwide SVP of Marketing at Samsung LCD Business, will examine the LCD TV market outlook from the perspectives of the dominant LCD glass supplier and largest TFT LCD manufacturer.

On Day 2, four of the six sessions will focus on different aspects of the TV market. One session will be dedicated to the TV market outlook and competition between different technologies. Called TV Market Trends and Outlook, this session will feature the following presentations:

--Ross Young, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of DisplaySearch, will present DisplaySearch's global TV market outlook, revealing Q4 results by technology, region, size, resolution and brand as well as the key strategic issues facing each technology. In addition, DisplaySearch will reveal its cost, margin and street price forecast by technology.

--Greg Gudorf, VP of Marketing in the Home Products Division at Sony, will discuss their outlook for different TV technologies, including its proprietary SXRD See LCoS.  LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) A technology used to make microdisplays for rear-projection TVs and head-mounted displays (HMDs). Each LCoS chip hosts a grayscale LCD shutter sandwiched between a cover glass and a mirror.  technology.

--Scott Ramirez, VP at Toshiba, will discuss Toshiba's outlook by technology including 1080p DLP RPTVs and its surface conduction electron-emitter displays (SEDs).

--Candace Peterson, VP of Corporate Marketing and Strategy at InFocus Corporation, will discuss their outlook for microdisplay RPTVs in both consumer and commercial markets and how South Mountain Technologies, its joint venture with TCL, will address the key challenges.

--Chris Kim, VP of PDP Sales and Marketing at Samsung SDI, will discuss the outlook for PDP demand, costs, performance and supply. Samsung SDI is the leading PDP module supplier, earning a 26% share in Q4'04.

--David Su, VP and GM of the TV Display Business Group at AUO, will discuss the progress of the LCD TV industry in Taiwan and why Japanese and Korean LCD suppliers are not the only suppliers to benefit from the growth of the LCD TV market.

--James Li, CEO of Syntax Groups -- a new entrant enjoying significant growth -- will discuss their market outlook for LCD TVs and LCOS RPTVs in North America, Taiwan and China.

Three other sessions on Day 2 sessions are related to TVs:
--  Financial Outlook session, which will draw upon leading
        financial firms' flat panel TV expectations

    --  Taiwan Supplier session, which will feature executives from:

        --  BenQ, a leading Taiwan TV brand and OEM

        --  CMO, Taiwan's leading LCD TV panel supplier

        --  Sintek, a leading Taiwan color filter supplier

        --  Wellypower, the leading backlight supplier in Taiwan

        and Motorola covering LCOS, TDEL, thin CRTs and carbon
        nanotubes.


Day 3 will feature two sessions related to TVs:

--The Improving Performance session will feature a presentation from Samsung on improving LCD black levels and response times, from LED backlight supplier Lumileds on the commercialization and performance advantages of their technology, display electronics presentations from Analog Devices, Pixelworks and Silicon Image, and Genoa Color's multi-primary color approach.

--The Cost Reduction session will examine ways in which PDP and TFT LCD manufacturers will be able to reduce costs. In addition to DisplaySearch's cost modeling projections, equipment and materials suppliers BOC Edwards, Eastman Chemical, Litrex, NEC Electronics, Orbotech and Photon Dynamics, will discuss how their advancements will reduce costs. Furthermore, display technology inventor Willem den Boer will discuss a new active matrix architecture which can achieve similar performance to TFT LCDs with just two or three masks, resulting in a dramatic reduction in capital costs.
