Display Network Venture Gets Veteran Industry CEO; Hamid Farzaneh to Direct Newnham Team, Bringing Flexible Multiple Display Connectivity to the Mass Computer Market.

, Calif. & CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom -- Display networking company Newnham today announced the appointment of Hamid Farzaneh as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, a key step in the company's plans to commercialize its broadly applicable virtual graphics card technology. Farzaneh brings extensive digital display industry experience to Newnham as well as proven expertise in guiding high-growth technology start-ups.

Prior to joining Newnham, Farzaneh served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development for San Jose, Calif.-based Silicon Optix Inc. Before that, he co-founded Motion Sense, a MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers. In the research labs since the 1980s, MEMS devices began to materialize as commercial products in the mid-1990s.  controller startup in the Bay Area, and also served as executive vice president and COO of Genesis Microchip, where his leadership helped transform the company from an engineering-driven, high-cost, niche-market enterprise into a dominant chip supplier for the desktop and home digital display market, resulting in a successful IPO (Initial Public Offering) The first time a company offers shares of stock to the public. While not a computer term per se, many founders, employees and insiders of computer companies have found this acronym more exciting than any tech term they ever heard. .

Farzaneh will be based in Newnham's recently opened Palo Alto, Calif., office. He takes over the CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  job from Michael Ledzion, who remains as the company's Executive Vice President of Business Operations. Ledzion will manage the Cambridge office and oversee the expansion of the local engineering team.
