Disney donates to Katrina-damaged Boys & Girls Clubs.

Disney, Walter Elias Disney
 Co. in Burbank, donated $1.5 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in order to help 16 Hurricane Katrina-damaged clubs in the Gulf Coast.

The donation was presented in early April by Disney's Senior Executive Vice President and CFO See Chief Financial Officer.  Tom Staggs to Boys & Girls President Roxanne Spillett on ABC News

Disney is a Centennial Sponsor of Boys & Girls Club, a 3,700 club national network supporting more than 4.4 million of the nation's youth, 6 to 18 years of age, mostly from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.

Out of the $1.5 million, $500,000 will go towards the rebuilding of a club in Pass Christian, Miss.

The 6,500 resident town of Pass Christian was overtaken by Katrina; over eighty percent of the town was demolished by the storm.

Disney's contribution to Boys & Girls Club brings the total support over the last year to $4.5 million, $3 million concentrated on the Gulf Coast.
