Disney Favorites Return to the Big Screen as ``From Under the Sea to Cyberspace: a Month of Disney Classics At the El Capitan'' Bows on April 23.BURBANK, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--April 16, 1999-- Moviegoers will have a rare opportunity to see four of their favorite Disney live-action classics on the big screen as Hollywood's legendary movie palace, The El Capitan Theatre (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), kicks off an exclusive limited engagement titled "From Under the Sea to Cyberspace: A Month of Disney Classics at the El Capitan," it was announced Friday by Richard Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group. Included in the series are "Mary Poppins," "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," "Tron (The Realtime Operating System Nucleus) An advanced realtime operating system developed by Japanese universities and corporations. i-TRON is a version that is used for microcontrollers in industrial machinery." and "Swiss Family Robinson." In addition to featuring new film prints, each engagement will begin its opening weekend with personal appearances by filmmakers, stars and/or surprise guests. Nominated for 13 Oscars and winner of five, this 1964 musical
comedy is considered the crowning achievement in Walt Disney's
illustrious filmmaking career. Directed by Robert Stevenson, this
cinematic adaptation of the P.L. Travers classic stars Julie
Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns, Karen
Dotrice and Matthew Garber. A fully restored 35mm Dolby Stereo
print will be screened.

This 1954 classic, which won Academy Awards for Best Special
Effects and Best Art Decoration/Set Decoration, has always been in
a "league" all its own. Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Paul Lukas and
Peter Lorre star in this exciting undersea adventure adapted from
the Jules Verne classic and directed by Richard Fleischer. A fully
restored 35mm Cinemascope print in Dolby Stereo will be screened.

(11:15 a.m.)
This landmark 1982 fantasy adventure was the first feature to
make extensive use of computer-generated imagery and helped to
launch a whole new era of exciting effects blockbusters. Directed
by Steven Lisberger, with effects supervised by Harrison Ellenshaw
and Richard Taylor, the film stars Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner,
David Warner and Cindy Morgan. This engagement will feature the
first new 70mm, 6-track Dolby Stereo print of this film made in 17
years!

This 1960 live-action Disney adventure classic is one of the most
popular titles in the Studio's library. Acclaimed director Ken
Annakin helmed this exciting tale of a courageous family
shipwrecked on an uncharted tropical island where they must fend
for themselves and defend themselves against a band of marauding
pirates. John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, James MacArthur, Tommy Kirk
and Kevin Corcoran star. A fully restored 35mm print will be
screened.
