Disney Consumer Products Hires Philip Shaw as Sr. Vice President, Marketing, Worldwide.

BURBANK, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--July 10, 2000

Nike veteran Philip Shaw has joined Disney Consumer Products in the newly created position of senior vice president, marketing, worldwide, it was announced today by Andrew Mooney, president of Disney Consumer Products Worldwide.

Shaw will be responsible for planning and implementing marketing efforts around the world for all of the business units within the Consumer Products division: toys, apparel, hardlines, interactive, collectibles and The Disney Store.

"Phil has a wealth of experience shepherding the development of great brands within the packaged-goods and consumer-products industry," Mooney said. "He will bring a fantastic creative force, energy and drive to the Disney brand, which has enormous potential for growth in the worldwide consumer marketplace."

Shaw had been general manager of Nike's equipment division, where he created the timeware business and was responsible for growing the eyeware business by nearly three-fold worldwide.

Previously, he was vice president of marketing for Loews Corporation's Bulova division, where he managed the Bulova, Accutron and Caravelle Caravelle may be a reference to:
  • Sud Aviation Caravelle, the short/medium-range jet airliner, produced by Sud Aviation
  • Sud Aviation Super-Caravelle, the design for a supersonic transport from Sud Aviation
  • Volkswagen Caravelle
 brands, as well as Bulova's licensed products.

Shaw also developed brand identities for dominant packaged-goods lines while working in the advertising industry. He spent four years at McCann-Erickson, where he was vice president and management representative for Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Black & Decker. He was also an account executive for Burger King at J. Walter Thompson Walter Thompson refers to:
