Dismounted or not-- cordless. (Digest).

The addition of a wireless link to an existing vehicle communication system could enable crew and combat personnel to dismount and still be informed. The Northrop Grumman Mounted Warrior system uses a Universal Adapter Interface (UAI) with a small lightweight Personal Communications Unit to allow an ease of movement hitherto unheard of in combat vehicle operations. The UAI interfaces directly with existing VIC crew stations and, when used in conjunction with the PCU, offers wireless vehicle-to-soldier and soldier-to-soldier communication. The UAI can interface with the VIC-l, -2, -3 and other military intercom systems, is fully backwards compatible with older systems and allows listening capabilities for an unlimited number of crew members per channel whilst allowing four simultaneous talkers full-duplex operation.
