Together, DiskStream and Digital Rapids are streamlining the migration of legacy tape-based libraries to file-based archives. "Capsa first eliminated the financial barriers-to-adoption for broadcasters by introducing open, accessible, and affordable archiving solutions. Today, we're addressing another significant concern faced by our customers: migrating content from their tape libraries, preserving metadata (1) (meta-data) Data that describes other data. The term may refer to detailed compilations such as data dictionaries and repositories that provide a substantial amount of information about each data element.  in current indexing systems, and thereby protecting previous investments in archiving," said Ian Russell Ian Russell may refer to:

, president of DiskStream.

Capsa enables broadcasters to import metadata from their existing look-up and indexing systems, typically databases or news production systems, such as ENPS ENPS Electronic News Production System (Associated Press) . Through the integration with Digital Rapids' StreamZ, Capsa uses this metadata to generate batch capture lists and drive the ingest of video content from tape. Capsa automatically catalogs the resulting media files and generates low-resolution proxies, immediately making the files searchable and available for preview or retrieval.

"As a result of this technology integration, we are enabling our customers to blow the dust off aging video tapes in their library, and transform otherwise inaccessible content into valuable media assets that become instantly available with a single mouse click, from any computer on their network," continued Russell.

"Our products are designed to increase our customers' productivity and streamline their day-to-day workflow The automatic routing of documents to the users responsible for working on them. Workflow is concerned with providing the information required to support each step of the business cycle. ," said Brick Eksten, president of Digital Rapids Corporation. "The combined efforts of DiskStream and Digital Rapids are enabling us to tackle old problems with new approaches and smart technology integration. We're pleased to be at NAB with DiskStream to demonstrate to customers how Capsa and StreamZ combined can transform their legacy video tape libraries from inaccessible and costly liabilities to valuable, conveniently available digital media assets."
