Many say the best restaurants are those that only the locals know about and one such restaurant is located in Mount Olive--three miles off the beaten path on Linda Bennett's (a.k.a. Matilda) family land. Matilda's restaurant pays homage to Bennett's family and the land on which it is built. The walls are covered with photos and other memorabilia of the O'Neal clan who settled there in the early 1800s. A six-year-old Matilda even graces the cover of the restaurant's menu. Locals (and others "in the know") converge on this out-of-the-way location every weekend for meals that please the palette and senses. Patrons only have to decide between staples such as Black Angus steak, grilled fish, and fried dill dill, Old World annual or biennial plant (Anethum graveolens) of the family Umbelliferae (parsley family), cultivated since at least since 400 B.C.
