Discriminatory behaviour being adopted with Pakistani, says PM.

ISLAMABAD, July 30, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the basic reason behind terrorism and extremism is illiteracy while educational institutes and universities would be constructed in war affected areas of Swat. First we would clear the area from terrorists and then Cantonment would be setup there, he said this while talking to media men and addressing the Prize distributing ceremony of HSSC organized by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. Good Governance and new Police would be introduced in Swat and local lashkar would also be responsible to halt regrouping of terrorists in their areas, he said. The salaries of Police Personnel would be increased and their health and life insurances would also be ensured, Gilani said. The Prime Minister said that the nationalization of educational institutes in tenure of late Former Premier Benazir Bhutto was wrong. Private Sector would be encouraged to promote education in the country, he said, adding that, Government can not alone bear the burden of education. He said Chief Ministers of all Provinces has been taken into confidence over new education policy and draft of it has been sent to them. When asked about high registration fee being taken by regulatory authority from Private run educational institutes, he said, the decision to slash fee would be taken in the light of recommendation of Chief Ministers of all Provinces. He said the basic reason behind terrorism and extremism is illiteracy and Governments top priority was education and health. No nation can develop without getting education, he said, adding, Pakistan is facing several challenges including terrorism and extremism. The students would get stipends through new youth policy and vocation training is being imparted to youngsters so that they could earn livelihood to run their families, he said. He also linked employment opportunities to students with better law and order situation in the country. The investor would not invest in Pakistan till better law and order situation, he said. The terrorists, he said, are working on foreign agenda to destroy countrys economy. Neither the terrorists have any boundary nor religion. They are enemy of Pakistan. They were not only challenging writ of system but also writ of Government, he said. Girls school were destroyed in Swat and they would be reconstructed all cost, he said. Government is committed to resolve terrorism and extremism, he said. The terrorists, he said, have tarnished the image of Islam and Pakistan and discriminatory behaviour is being adopted with Pakistani due to them. There is dire need to make better the image of Pakistan at international level, he said. We would provide education to our students akin to international level, he said. Thousands of people had to migrate due to terrorists and extremists in Swat, Buner and Lower Dir and they have rendered scarifies for our better future, he said. There was impression the Government would not be able to overcome economic challenges and terrorism but we with the help of Pakistan has been able to overcome challenges. Action speaks louder then word, he said. When the Government came into rule, there was Atta shortage around the country but now we have surplus wheat, he said. Later, he announced Rs. 1,00,000 for each who got first position in annual examinations of HSSC, Rs. 75,000 for each who got second position and Rs. 50,000 for each who got third position.
