Edward Kennedy (D-MA) respectively, would prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation sexual orientation n. The direction of one's sexual interest toward members of the same, opposite, or both sexes, especially a direction seen to be dictated by physiologic rather than sociologic forces. . The identical bills would make it illegal for an employer to refuse to hire, to discriminate, or to discharge any individual because of that person's sexual orientation.
