Discreet Logic opens new London office; new facility to provide demonstration, evaluation and training from heart of London's Soho district.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 1996--Discreet Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:DSLGF) Thursday announced that Discreet Logic U.K. is to relocate to new and larger premises in the heart of London's Soho district.

Located on Beak Street, London W1 W1 - Warrant Officer, First Grade, the multistory building has been completely renovated to provide state-of-the-art demonstration and training facilities for Discreet Logic's effects, editing and broadcast production technologies. The new premises will also be the home of an enlarged sales and support team, with all of Discreet Logic's U.K. research and development being concentrated in Newbury.

``Relocating to a prime site in the heart of Soho should send a clear message of commitment to all of our clients in the U.K.,'' said Marc Dando, country manager, Discreet Logic U.K.

``Within a short walk, we have many customers who work at the cutting edge of digital imaging. Relocation here is designed to help Discreet Logic to improve customer support and product training, and better enable us to extend our presence in one of the world's most prestigious markets for broadcast and post-production.''

Discreet Logic's new Beak Street premises will provide private demonstration, evaluation and training facilities for the Discreet Logic product line. Multiple demonstration suites are networked to a centralized machine room, and can be separately configured with ancillary technologies to better emulate customers' working environment.

``Our goal is to deliver new levels of service in the future,'' continued Dando. ``Right down to the cappuccino bar, the whole place has been designed to make sure the time clients spend here is productive as well as enjoyable.

``Our objective is to strengthen our sales and engineering teams with experienced people, and we expect to shortly establish a full, remote, dial-up diagnostic support facility.''

``The region served by the U.K. office, which includes all of Scandinavia, the Netherlands, the Eastern Mediterranean and Africa, is very important for Discreet Logic,'' said Graham Sharp, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Discreet Logic.

``Our clients there are extremely sophisticated and known for pushing the technology to new creative heights as well as fueling our development channels with ongoing feedback on new features and capabilities. Being in the midst of this talent-laden market will help us to keep our development and product priorities in line with client demand.''
