The report was released nationally in conjunction with a press conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and the launch of a national petition drive asking insurance companies to put policyholders ahead of profits by paying fair insurance claims.

* Also in August, ATLA's Communications Department completed its fourth series of three-day training sessions geared toward helping state trial lawyer associations (TLAs) create and implement winning communications campaigns. * ATLA leaders and staff continue to travel the country to talk with members and state TLAs about the vote by ATLA members at the Seattle convention to change the association's name to the American Association for Justice The American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) is the leading organization for lawyers representing plaintiffs in the United States. . The name focuses less on who the association's members are and more on what they do. This important change is just one piece of ATLA's campaign to fight for justice, which is under attack by powerful corporations in a way unseen in ATLA's 60-year history.

* More stories about civil justice issues are popping up on radio and television stations around the country, as ATLA continues to build its communications staff. Telling the public about the work trial lawyers do and the difference they make is a critical component of the association's communications efforts.
