 Sorensen, small, non-farm businesses, including "Main Street" businesses, and cooperatives may qualify for SBA disaster loans if they have experienced financial difficulties as a result of reduced revenues to farmers and ranchers due to the heavy precipitation.

"The SBA offers economic injury disaster loans up to $1.5 million to small business owners who were adversely impacted by the disaster," Sorensen said. "These working capital loans are designed to help business owners meet financial obligations which would have been met had the disaster not occurred," he continued.

Farmers, ranchers, and nurseries are not eligible for assistance under this declaration. However, assistance may be available from the Farmers Home Administration (FmHA).

Information and loan application forms may be obtained by writing the SBA at P.O. Box 13795, Sacramento, CA 95853-4795 or by calling toll free 800/488-5323 during normal business hours BUSINESS HOURS. The time of the day during which business is transacted.
