Disappointing stalemate for Bay.

UNIBOND LEAGUE Colwyn Bay 0 Clitheroe 0 AFTER their seven-goal extravaganza at Radcliffe earlier in the week it was another home disappointment as Colwyn Bay were held to a goalless draw and missed the chance to go second in the table.

Manager Neil Young was angry that his side had not been awarded a penalty in the first 10 minutes for a foul on Jamie Dunn which also forced the winger's early retirement through injury, but admitted that in the end his side had not done enough to force the win.

"It was a definite penalty," he said. "Jamie has put the ball past the defender who has gone right through him and left stud marks right down his shin.

"He tried to carry on but was in too much pain and losing him so early didn't help us."

The early loss of Dunn through injury was clearly a blow, but they should still have been ahead at half-time, with Anthony Sheehan missing two excellent opportunities - failing to turn the ball over the line and then blazing another great chance over the bar from eight yards.

New signing Stuart Graves, making his debut in an otherwise unchanged side, went close with a shot that flew narrowly wide and saw a free kick deflected over the bar off a defender.

The second half was mostly a scrappy affair, but for the most part the Bay struggled to create any clear openings until the introduction of Eddie Jebb and Rob Hopley was pushed up front to create late Bay pressure.

Clitheroe defender Liam McManus was sent off for a second yellow card eight minutes from the end, but although Hopley, Tim Brandreth, Sheehan and Matty Hurdman all went close to breaking the deadlock, the 10 men held out for a point.
