Steve Olson's been building a custom recording studio in Venice Beach, CA. Drop-ins have included such varied person as as Robert Graham, Angelica Huston and even one Jennifer Nicholson. Reportedly, Olson became so frustrated with the sound that certain established engineers were "producing" for The Fuckos that he designed an acoustic environment that is unprecedented in its physical form and function. Bill Bateman and Jim Greco teamed-up with Steve to inaugurate the facility. Their efforts may appear on the upcoming Duane Peters compilation. The Weekend Blacks, AKA Ethan Fowler's new band, are also fabled to now be in contention for a recording berth.

Lounge lizards frolicked at a San Diego art expo that was far and widely believed to be the undeclared launch for a glossy skate mag. TWS founder Larry Balma and some others were temporarily denied entry to the rather exclusive affair, while zealous guards checked credentials. Some who participated successfully in the soiree included Zeldini, the J Grant Brittaina, James Cassimus, Salman Agah, Mild Vucovich, O, John Foster, Preston Murray, Garry Scott Davis, John "Dettman" Lytle, Per Welinder, Bob Burnquist, and Jimmy the Fitz. The plotting and positioning was intense as potential advertisers wrestled with the Waterboys for both coverage and free sushi.
