Dirig Software, a leading developer of award-winning enterprise performance management solutions for eBusiness, announced today its support for Sun Microsystems' Sun(TM) ONE Application Server 7. Upon general availability of Sun ONE Application Server 7, Dirig's Fenway solution will be one of the initial management products to support Sun's newest application server release.

Currently supporting the Sun ONE Application Server, Fenway provides real-time monitoring and proactive management for web applications and individual Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) A platform from Sun for building distributed enterprise applications. J2EE services are performed in the middle tier between the user's machine and the enterprise's databases and legacy information systems.  (JDBC (Java DataBase Connectivity) A programming interface that lets Java applications access a database via the SQL language. Since Java interpreters (Java Virtual Machines) are available for all major client platforms, this allows a platform-independent database (TM)) connections. Additionally, Dirig's Fenway v3.0 application is SunTone(SM) certified demonstrating best practices for the delivery of web-based services. IT managers will now benefit from Fenway's detailed management capabilities that requires no additional instrumentation, allowing for proactive, component-level monitoring and management without introducing performance overhead that can adversely effect production servers.

"Dirig Software continues to display its support and commitment to Sun and the Sun ONE initiative with leading, SunTone(sm) certified performance management solutions for multiple Sun ONE products," said Mark Herring, director of Sun ONE and Java Web Services, Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Dirig's early support of Sun ONE Application Server 7 and their proficiency in additional Java technologies such as J2EE and JMX, provides our customers with management solutions that ensure and improve the performance of Sun ONE based environments."

Fenway solutions monitor and manage the performance, availability and transaction integrity of eBusiness infrastructures built around application servers. With Sun ONE Application Server 7 adding support for Java Management Extensions Java Management Extensions (JMX) is a Java technology that supplies tools for managing and monitoring applications, system objects, devices (e.g. printers) and service oriented networks. Those resources are represented by objects called MBeans (for Managed Bean).  (JMX), Fenway has the ability to extract application-specific information, such as customer name or transaction value, as well as performance and availability information any performance-related metric. This combination of data allows Fenway to extend its value beyond IT, exposing critical, business-related information that has direct impact on a company's revenue.

"Sun Microsystems is an incredibly valuable and strategic partner to Dirig," said Dave Wilby, vice president of product management for Dirig Software. "The breadth of Sun ONE products Dirig supports provides Sun customers with the most comprehensive management solution available for helping organizations see higher returns from their online initiatives while lowering costs and improving productivity within corporate IT departments."
