Director of Golf at Cold Spring Country Club, Jim Weiss, Goes Full Cycle.

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. -- As a student member, Jim Weiss Jim Weiss is a children's' storyteller who has released many audio cassettes and CDs. Examples of his retellings of stories include various works of Shakespeare, The Three Musketeers, and Sherlock Holmes. Most of his work was released by Greathall Productions.  was Cold Spring Country Club Men's Champion in 1984, 1985 and 1992. Today he is completing his fourth year as the Long Island club's Director of Golf. Not many, if any, country clubs have seen their high profile son come home to manage their golf operation.

Weiss' parents were members of the club from 1978-1993 and during much of that time Jim spent his summers caddying for the membership. In 1984 he was the Long Island Golf Association Junior Champion and in 1985, Suffolk County High School Champion and that same year he placed second in the New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 State Championships. This outstanding high school career won Weiss a scholarship to the prestigious University of Virginia, where he was a four-year letterman and All-ACC Freshman in 1985. In 1986 Weiss was a US Amateur participant at Shoal Creek, Alabama and in 1997 he set the then course record of "65" at the Long Island Open Championship at Bethpage Black.

 club professional after two tears on the Florida mini-tour. He was first assistant at Bonnie Briar briar: see brier.  Country Club in Larchmont from 1999-2000, director of instruction at Montauk Downs from 2001-2003, and first assistant at Engineers Country Club in Roslyn in 2004.

In 2005 Jim returned home to Cold Spring Country Club as first assistant and from 2006-2008, he was co-head professional with Austin Straub under the direction of Tom Herzog. In 2009, he was named interim Director of Golf and signed a multi-year contract in 2010. Since Jim's promotion, the pro shop that he owns with fellow pro Austin Straub has been recognized as one of the best on Long Island.

Cold Spring Country Club has been an amazing part of Jim's life from childhood to his present position as Director of Golf and this lifelong love affair with the club has made him a unique resource at the club.
