Scott Quackenbush, the Executive Director of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab The Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL) is Alabama's primary marine education and research center. Located on the eastern tip of Dauphin Island, a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico, the DISL is the home site of the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium and founded by an act of the , died Sunday after a brief illness. He was 56 years old. Dr. Quackenbush took over the Sea Lab in July.
