Dino Dinovitz Named Vice President and General Manager of Young Broadcasting's KRON-TV and BayTV in San Francisco.

Prominent broadcasting executive Paul "Dino" Dinovitz has been named vice president and general manager of Young Broadcasting Inc.'s (NASDAQ NASDAQ

:YBTVA) KRON-TV and BayTV operations in San Francisco, it was announced today by Vincent Young, chairman and chief executive officer, Young Broadcasting.

Mr. Dinovitz comes to KRON-TV from Hearst-Argyle stations KCRA-TV (NBC) and KQCA-TV (WB) in Sacramento, where he was president and general manager of both outlets. He will join the station on or before January 1, 2001.

Mr. Dinovitz has more than 20 years of general management experience, as either president or vice president, for stations in major markets throughout the country. Prior to KCRA KCRA Kentucky Court Reporters Association  and KQCA he served for 13 years as the general manager for KMBC-TV and KCWB KCWB Kansas City Westport Belt (railroad)  in Kansas City. Beginning as vice president and general manager in 1985, he was promoted to president and general manager of those stations in 1997. From 1982 to 1985, Mr. Dinovitz served as vice president and general manager of WTVN-TV in Columbus, Ohio. He earlier was vice president and general manager of Buffalo's WGR-TV from 1980 to 1982.

Mr. Dinovitz began his career as an account executive with WDAF-FM radio in Kansas City in 1970, and assumed the same responsibilities with WDAF-TV the following year. After that, he worked at WTAF-TV in Philadelphia from 1976 to 1980, initially as a local sales manager for eight months before taking over as the station's general sales manager.

In November 1999, Young Broadcasting Inc. announced the acquisition of KRON-TV and BayTV from the Chronicle Publishing Company The Chronicle Publishing Company was a print and broadcast media corporation headquartered in San Francisco, California that was in operation from 1865 until 2000. Owned for the whole of its existence by the de Young family, it was most notable for owning the namesake . KRON-TV is currently San Francisco market's top rated station for sign-on-to sign-off and weekly cume ratings. The station also broadcasts the highest rated news programming in the market. Daily, KRON-TV produces five hours of local news that is consistently ranked #1 in its time slots. Since January of 1999, KRON-TV has been broadcasting in digital high definition television (HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates ) on channel 57. BayTV, which reaches 93 percent of the cable homes in the San Francisco market (1.4 million homes), is the Bay area viewer's only 24-hour source for local news and information. AT & T owns the remaining 49 percent of BayTV.

With the purchase of KRON-TV, Young Broadcasting will own twelve television stations and the national television representation firm, Adam Young, Inc. Six stations are affiliated with the ABC Television Network (WRKN-TV, Nashville TN. - WTEN-TV, Albany, New York For other uses, see Albany.
