Dillard Department Stores, Inc. reports monthly sales.


LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 1997--Dillard Department Stores, Inc. (NYSE:DDS) announced that sales for the four weeks ended Feb. 1, 1997 were $350,632,000 compared to sales of $318,206,000 for January 1996 on a comparable four week basis. This is an increase of 10% overall. The comparable stores increase for this period was 5%.

During the 52 weeks ended Feb. 1, 1997, sales were $6,227,585,000 compared to $5,837,487,000 for the fiscal 1995 on a comparable 52 week basis, an increase of 7%. The comparable stores increase for this period was 2%.

The Company currently operates 250 traditional department stores in twenty-four states featuring branded and private label goods in the upper-middle price range and catering to a broad spectrum of the population.
