Dildine Named Director, Corporate Communications at Century Aluminum Company.

MONTEREY, Calif. -- Century Aluminum Company (NASDAQ:CENX) has appointed Michael Dildine to the position of Director, Corporate Communications. He succeeds Alfred Posti, who is retiring effective December 31, 2004.

Mr. Dildine joins Century following a 19-year career in corporate communications and business planning with ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP), an international, integrated energy company based in Houston, Texas. Mr. Dildine holds an undergraduate degree in geology and an MBA in finance from the University of Texas, Austin.

Century owns 615,000 metric tons per year (mtpy) of primary aluminum capacity. The company owns and operates a 244,000-mtpy plant at Hawesville, KY, a 170,000-mtpy plant at Ravenswood, WV and a 90,000-mtpy plant at Grundartangi, Iceland. Century also owns a 49.67-percent interest in a 222,000-mtpy reduction plant at Mt. Holly, SC. Alcoa Inc. owns the remainder and is the operating partner. In addition, Century holds a 50 percent share of the 1.25-mtpy Gramercy Alumina Plant in Gramercy, LA. Century's corporate offices are located in Monterey, CA.
