"Protecting consumers is not the sole responsibility of any one industry segment," said Avivah Litan, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner, Inc. "Making consumers feel safe when they are navigating the Internet should be a top priority for those players that have the greatest reach and can have the largest impact across the market. Bringing website authentication to the desktop is one way to help stop the damage from phishing attacks - before consumers are unknowingly lured in."

Digital Resolve's approach to website authentication effectively eliminates active consumer involvement in authenticating websites such as selecting images and phrases they must remember whenever visiting a website. This ever-evolving list of trusted sites, which is constantly monitored and updated to accommodate changes to websites, simplifies the authentication process for both consumers and the websites that serve them, and is designed to protect consumers against phishing, pharming pharming (fär`mĭng), the use of genetically altered livestock, such as cows, goats, pigs, and chickens, to produce medically useful products. , Man-in-the-Middle and other attacks that direct web surfers to socially engineered websites designed to steal personal information that is used by online criminals to commit identity fraud.
