Digital Microwave Corp. Receives $11 Million Order from Panafon.
The agreement covers a three year period, with anticipated purchase orders valued at US$3.5 million in the first year.
Panafon SA is a joint venture formed by Vodafone (U.K.), France Telecom Mobile International (France), Intracom (Greece) and Databank (Greece). Panafon's GSM network was inaugurated in 1993, and their system has expanded to cover over 95% of the Greek population.
Digital Microwave's radios will be used to expand Panafon's GSM network throughout the country. Shipment of the radios will begin next month.
Chuck Kissner, Digital Microwave chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "Our relationship with Panafon spans three years, and we have worked with them in all aspects of developing their network, from path surveys to installation and commissioning.
