Digital Lightwave Announces GigE Testing Support on NextGen Multi-Rate Module.

NGMR Module Now Supports GigE, 10GigE, SONET, SDH with NextGen Features and OTN 

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Digital Lightwave(R), Inc. (OTCBB:DIGL), a leading provider of optical networking test equipment and technology, today announced support for Gigabit Ethernet Testing on the Next Generation Multi-Rate (NGMR) module. The NGMR enables telecom and datacom testing in a single module, supporting SONET/SDH up to 10Gbps as well as test options for OTN, 10Gigabit Ethernet LAN, WAN and FEC, ODU-1 to ODU-2 multiplexing and the NextGen features VCAT, LCAS and GFP.

NGMR modules can be ordered at several hardware levels, equipped to test up to 155Mbps, 622Mbps, 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps. Then with license-based "test options" the NGMR can be enabled to provide more sophisticated testing as the need arises.

This one module installed in a small chassis can now do all the testing they need today and can be upgraded on the fly to support tomorrow's test needs."

"The architecture of the NGMR module was designed to be very capable and flexible," said Ted Myers, CEO of Digital Lightwave. "The fact that this one card can provide the capability that requires three slots in some other products makes it an ideal candidate for portable applications or crowded labs. Some customers are finding that equipping the NIC Plus or NIC EP chassis with two or even three modules gives them an incredibly flexible simultaneous-test solution for SONET/SDH and Ethernet applications that is still easily portable."

In the flexible NIC platform, the NGMR can be equipped as a stand-alone module or can be combined with other NIC modules to allow an even broader range of use. A single NIC chassis equipped with NGMR and the new PDH/T-Carrier module can perform tests from 1.5Mbps to 10.7Gbps with optional Jitter and Wander testing at DS1, E1, E3, DS3 and E4. In the larger NIC Plus chassis or NIC EP rack-mount, the Optical Jitter Module can be added to allow Jitter and Wander testing up to 10.7Gbps. For testing multiple ports simultaneously, the high-density Ethernet module offers up to eight 10/100/1000BaseT, four GigE and a single 10GigE port that can be configured in any NIC chassis.

The NGMR, along with the full line of Digital Lightwave products will be on display at NXTComm in Chicago, June 19-21.
