(NASDAQ: ISLD), a leading global e-Business Delivery Network, announced today that it will support Apple's QuickTime as part of a network buildout that is deploying more than 6,000 servers from Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW) and content distribution technology from Inktomi Corp. (NASDAQ: INKT) in order to give consumers a superior online experience for viewing and interacting with streaming content and advertisements.

As a result of Digital Island's new QuickTime implementation, network service providers can now co-locate the QuickTime-equipped servers in their facilities - placing them as close as possible to their customers for a compelling viewing experience. Digital Island has co-location relationships for its Footprint(TM) content distributors with Road Runner, Rhythms NetConnections, Inc. (NASDAQ: RTHM) and others as part of its global network expansion.

Apple's QuickTime technology will become part of Digital Island's $150-million infrastructure buildout that will add 5,000 Sun servers equipped with Inktomi's Traffic Server(TM) to its existing 1,200 Footprint content distributors worldwide over the next three years.
