Digital Courier Station Group Services Kicks-Off; Citadel Communications Launches With DCI.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 1997-- Digital Courier International Corporation (Alberta Stock Exchange:DIC) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Citadel Communications Corporation to jointly evaluate and explore the use of DCI's digital communications network for use as the corporate intranet for Citadel's group of 101 radio stations.

Prior to this agreement DCI's network has been used exclusively for distribution of audio packages and related communications.

Digital Courier developed its network with an open architecture and two-way communications so that the members at the end of each spoke could use the network hubs for many different applications. With the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 in the United States, radio stations have been increasingly consolidated under group ownership. The expanding size of station groups has lead station group owners to look for ways to increase operating efficiencies by linking their stations.

"Our existing network can provide significant savings to station groups by eliminating the costs associated with the development, deployment and maintenance of a separate network. In many cases DCI already has these stations on the network," said Al Kozak, president of Digital Courier.

Under the terms of the Citadel agreement, Digital Courier will complete the installation of its servers in all of Citadel's radio stations. The initial applications of the intranet will include the distribution of advertising and programming within the Citadel group and to other subscribers currently on the network. Both parties will contribute to the evaluation of these services, and will review other network applications.

Citadel Communications Corporation, based in Tempe, Ariz., is the 10th largest radio group in the United States. Operating through three regional divisions, Citadel controls stations covering the radio spectrum from Talk and Gospel through Country and Classical formats.
