NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2002

Today at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA NCTA National Cable & Telecommunications Association (fka National Cable Television Association)
NCTA National Cable Television Association (now the National Cable & Telecommunications Association)
) Cable 2002 convention, Digeo(TM), Inc. debuted its much-anticipated Moxi(TM) platform, a licensable hardware reference design and an integrated suite of advanced digital services, designed to power a new breed of set-tops known as media centers.

Developed in collaboration with Charter Communications Charter Communications NASDAQ: CHTR is an American company providing cable television, high-speed Internet, and telephone services to more than 5.7 million customers in 29 states. It is the third-largest publicly traded cable operator in the U.S.  (Nasdaq:CHTR CHTR Charter

The Moxi platform makes it easy for consumers to manage the ever-expanding range of entertainment options. Through the Moxi Menu(TM), an intuitive all-media browser, subscribers can quickly organize, surf and access live or digitally recorded television programming, MP3s, games, photos, DVDs and more using the remote control. The Moxi Ticker(TM), another pioneering feature, gives subscribers access to an interactive ticker-like overlay that delivers up-to-the-minute sports scores, stock quotes, news and weather.

Moxi-powered media centers operate as home entertainment hubs, simultaneously sharing digital files and services with an array of devices in the home. This flexible media routing architecture allows network operators to cost-efficiently equip multiple television households, setting the stage for rapid deployment of revenue generating services like PVR, videophone (1) (VideoPhone) A line of videophones (definition #1 below) from AT&T that were introduced in the early 1990s and later pulled off the market due to poor sales. "Today's Moxi platform unveiling represents a seminal moment in the delivery of entertainment and communications in the home," said Digeo chief executive officer Jim Billmaier. "Today, we're offering network operators an affordable solution that will deepen subscriber relationships, attract new customers and usher in Verb 1. usher in - be a precursor of; "The fall of the Berlin Wall ushered in the post-Cold War period"

Closing the gap between existing hardware and what is required to run its powerful software platform, Digeo(TM) today also unveiled licensable reference designs for a new class of digital set-top devices. The first generation of these cost-efficient media centers will be co-developed and manufactured by Motorola and deployed by Charter. The family of Digeo-designed media centers includes:

Moxi Media Center Companion (MCC (The Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation, Austin, TX) The first high-tech research and development consortium in the U.S., created in 1982 by leading companies within the electronics industry. )

Compatible with all existing digital set-top boxes, the Moxi MCC enables operators to leverage existing infrastructure and immediately offer subscribers advanced services. This device works in conjunction with widely deployed set-tops such as the Motorola DCT-2000 increasing the functionality of these systems as well as extending their life. The MCC boasts a powerful processor, a 3D graphics engine, a hard drive, and a DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) A cable modem standard from the CableLabs research consortium (www.cablelabs.com), which provides equipment certification for interoperability.  cable modem cable modem
