Different but the same.THE TRAGEDY OF SEPTEMBER 11 HAS put us all into a posture posture /pos·ture/ (pos´choor) the attitude of the body.pos´tural pos·ture n. 1. A position of the body or of body parts. 2. of guarded optimism. Collectively and individually we are not who we once were, despite the fact that many of yesterday's trappings still surround us. There is an air of stability that familiar trappings lend to us. Many (even those of us just blocks from Ground Zero) still get to go to the same job in pretty much the same way. But there is also a security--a sense of self-respect--in knowing that we can always right ourselves no matter what comes along to try and topple us. We are different now, but we are still very much the same. We are not as trusting, but we are as giving. We are not as vulnerable, but we are still risk-takers. Business will continue. Maybe not "as usual," but it will be conducted in much the way it was before. As I write this several trade shows and conventions are being rescheduled to allow enough time to pass for business travelers to regain a sense of confidence about modes of transportation or final destinations.
