Malignant tumour of the bladder. The most significant risk factor associated with bladder cancer is smoking. Exposure to chemicals called arylamines, which are used in the leather, rubber, printing, and textiles industries, is another risk factor.

While cigarette smoking appears to be an important risk factor for this disease, diet also appears to be important. Researchers from the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States).  combined results of 38 studies on the relation between diet and bladder cancer. They found that diets that are high in fruits and vegetables and low in fat reduce risk of developing bladder cancer.
