(Digest).Vosper Thornycroft Controls (VTC VTC - video teleconferencing ) has been contracted by Turbomeca to develop the gas turbine turbine, rotary engine that uses a continuous stream of fluid (gas or liquid) to turn a shaft that can drive machinery. The electric power is generated by an alternator mechanically coupled to the engine, with a rotor field coil control and monitoring system for the Advanced Cycle Low power -- Gas Turbine Alternator (ACL-GTA) project, which is partially funded by Britain and France. The project is designed to deliver a gas turbine alternator in the power range of 1.8 MW which will prove to be a diesel beater beat·er n. 1. VTC is planning to leverage the Digicon range of control techniques and algorithms to help transfer this technology to an `open systems' Cots platform that will be fully compatible with the shipwide platform management systems in use in the French, British and other navies. |
