Dielectric pot-life and cure monitor.

A new device measures the pot life, cure state, and exotherm of thermosets thermosets, materials that can not be softened on heating. In thermosetting polymers, the polymer chains are joined (or cross-linked) by intermolecular bonding. Thermosets are usually supplied as partially polymerized or as monomer-polymer mixtures.  like epoxies and polyurethanes but has no moving parts Moving parts are the components of a device that undergo continuous or frequent motion, most commonly rotation. "Parts" only include the mechanical components which does not include fuel, or any other gas or liquid.  nor direct contact with reactive materials. Priced at $9850 for the base model, the SubCASE instrument comes from Format Messtechnik GmbH in Germany and is being introduced here by Eurotech Distributors, Northfield, Ohio Northfield is a village in Summit County, Ohio, United States. . Unlike rotational or vibrational viscometers for measuring cure, this device uses a stationary sensor built into its baseplate baseplate /base·plate/ (-plat) a sheet of plastic material used in making trial plates for artificial dentures.

to measure dielectric polarization and temperature of the material. Dielectric polarization correlates with the degree of mobility of the resin molecules, which decreases as curing proceeds. Linked to a PC, the instrument can generate a curve of temperature and polarity vs. time that indicates the onset and completion of cure.

The sensor and heated baseplate are covered with a cling film Noun 1. cling film - a thin plastic film made of saran (trade name Saran Wrap) that sticks to itself; used for wrapping food
