LAUREL HESTER Lt. Laurel Hester (August 15, 1956 – February 18, 2006) was a lesbian New Jersey police officer who rose to national attention with her deathbed appeal for the extension of pension benefits to domestic partners. , 49, a cancer-stricken police officer in New Jersey who fought for and won pension benefits for her partner, February 18.

JOEL DORIUS Raymond Joel Dorius (January 4 1919 - February 14 2006) was an academic and a professor of literature at Yale University, Smith College , San Francisco State University and University in Hamburg, Germany.
