Diecasting Plunger Lubricant.

J & S Chemical's Shotbeads are a blend of waxes and additives that are attracted to heat and rapidly spread on the chamber surface. They lay down a friction-reducing film that puts extreme pressure additives where they are needed. This film gives the user maximum lubrication lubrication, introduction of a substance between the contact surfaces of moving parts to reduce friction and to dissipate heat. A lubricant may be oil, grease, graphite, or any substance—gas, liquid, semisolid, or solid—that permits free action of  while reducing soldering. An inert additive provides graphite-like barrier protection against washout washout

The amount of lubricant used depends on the size of the tip and the casting weight. They are used on machines from 400-3500 tons and are available in 50-lb boxes and 250-lb drums.
