Did Your Branch Celebrate the Week of the Classroom Teacher?This year's Week of the Classroom Teacher was celebrated May 7-13, and many of our Branches had a very special celebration. Here are some ways several of our Branches celebrated: * Florida State ACEI ACEI Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor ACEI Association for Childhood Education International ACEI Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland presented grants to two classroom teachers and encouraged all local and student Branches to recognize teachers in at least one local school. * Midwestern State University Midwestern State University is a public liberal arts college in Texas and is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Located in Wichita Falls, Texas, the university has a current enrollment of approximately 6,500 students. (Texas) hosted an afternoon tea to honor classroom teachers. * El Paso El Paso (ĕl pă`sō), city (1990 pop. 515,342), seat of El Paso co., extreme W Tex., on the Rio Grande opposite Juárez, Mex.; inc. 1873. ACEI (Texas) sent out gifts and a motivational message to all ACEI members. * Utah State ACEI and Salt Lake City ACEI made bookmarks for all of the teachers in the Salt Lake Valley Salt Lake Valley is a 500 square mile valley in Salt Lake County in the north-central portion of the U.S. state of Utah. It contains Salt Lake City and many of its suburbs, notably West Valley City, Sandy, and West Jordan; its total population is 948,172 as of 2005. area, to show appreciation for their work. * Texas State ACEI celebrated when Governor George W. Bush signed a proclamation An act that formally declares to the general public that the government has acted in a particular way. A written or printed document issued by a superior government executive, such as the president or governor, which sets out such a declaration by the government. designating May 7-13, 2000, Week of the Classroom Teacher in the state of Texas, generating a lot of publicity for ACEI and teachers, * Louisiana State ACEI sent recognition certificates to teachers in the state. * Oklahoma State ACEI distributed candy, bookmarks, and membership information at the "Hooray for Teachers" Barbecue, sponsored by the Muskogee Education Consortion. * Kecskemet Branch of ACEI (Hungary) organized a free discussion among parents, teachers, and college tutors during the introduction of a new educational program in their community's kindergarten. * Eastern Illinois University Eastern Illinois University is a state university located in Charleston, Illinois. Institution Eastern Illinois University has approximately 10,000 undergraduates, 1,700 graduate students, and 2,000 faculty and staff. Admission is selective. ACEI recognized teachers in 17 schools who had hosted their practicum practicum (prak´tik n See internship. students and student teachers during the 1999-2000 school year; they also delivered notes and gift packages of children's books to each school in their area.
