This agreement follows the previously formed OEM partnership between the two companies in which Dictaphone markets CallXpress(R), AVT's OS/2-based unified messaging platform, under the name of synergy.cti(TM). The Windows NT-based platform will be marketed under the name of synergy.nti.

Dictaphone will market and support synergy.nti in the U.S. through its nationwide direct sales and service organizations. synergy.nti is part of Dictaphone's suite of Integrated Voice and Data Management solutions, and is primarily targeted at the legal, health care, financial, insurance, and public safety markets.

synergy.nti provides unified messaging solutions that allow users to retrieve and manage all of their messages -- voice, fax and email -- from either a telephone or personal computer using a single set of commands. In a single call from any touch-tone phone in the world, users can listen to their voice messages, listen to their email messages, which are converted to speech, and forward any fax or email message to the fax machine of their choice. Interactive Voice Response (IVR (Interactive Voice Response) An automated telephone information system that speaks to the caller with a combination of fixed voice menus and data extracted from databases in real time. ). When implemented simultaneously with the synergy.nti unified messaging server, AVT's Automated Agent for Windows NT IVR applications can enhance functionality such as fax-on-demand, voice messaging and call management.
