Diamonds explored in Kirkland Lake.An Ottawa-based junior mining company has uncovered a micro-fragment of kimberlite from its Bradley property near Kapuskasing Kapuskasing (kăpəskā`sĭng), town (1991 pop. 10,344), central Ont., Canada, on the Kapuskasing River, N of Timmins. It has lumbering and pulp and paper mills, a cold-weather automotive testing center, and a large tourism industry. A federal experimental farm is nearby.. Northern Shield Resources will begin a diamond drill program on its project about 60 kilometres north of Kapuskasing. Company president Peter Bliss says a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey conducted in September revealed about 10 "high priority" targets among about 30. He says there is potential for a cluster of kimberlite pipes within the Bradley project, widely regarded as an under-explored area of northeastern Ontario. |
