(Nasdaq: DIMD) a leading developer and marketer of multimedia and communications subsystems for personal computers, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Spea Software AG (Spea). Spea is a leading German developer and marketer of add-in 2D graphics accelerators and multimedia subsystems for the PC and is developing professional 3D graphics accelerators and other technologies. Diamond acquired Spea, a privately-held German company headquartered near Munich, in exchange for 2,087,694 shares of Diamond common stock. As a result, Diamond will incur a one-time write-off of in-process research and development of approximately $38 million in the fourth quarter ending December 31, 1995.
