Diamond Multimedia Announces New In-Box Software and Accessories Catalog for 3D Multimedia Accelerators; Catalog Showcases Developer Support and Highlights New Games.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1996--Leveraging increasing industry support for its 3D hardware accelerators, Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIMD DIMD Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary ) today announced that it will begin bundling a new software and accessories catalog with its retail Diamond EDGE 3D and upcoming Stealth 3D product lines.

The new catalog features a wealth of current and upcoming game titles, business applications and accessories for Diamond's 3D animation accelerators and provides toll-free numbers for purchasing products directly from manufacturers.

"Consumers are hungry for information on 3D optimized games and accessories for our Diamond EDGE 3D and Diamond Stealth 3D lines," said Ken Wirt, vice president of marketing for Diamond. "Through our new catalogs, we're giving consumers direct access to hot new Diamond-compatible products while providing our partners with a great distribution vehicle."

The new Diamond catalog includes software products from companies such as Activision, Caligari, Sega, Sony/Psygnosis as well as accessories including memory cards, joysticks and hardware upgrades. The Diamond Stealth 3D features fast 2D GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. The ability to resize application windows and change style and size of fonts are the significant advantages of a GUI vs. a character-based interface.  acceleration, 3D animation and digital video playback for optimum system performance under Windows 95, Windows 3.1.x, Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  3.51 and DOS. The Diamond EDGE 3D is a fully-integrated Windows 95 game accelerator, that provides 3D animation, 2D graphics acceleration, full-motion digital video playback and wavetable A group of sampled sound waves used in MIDI.
