Diamond Juul to keep sparkling.

Byline: By Barry Wallace

Popular Dane Richard Juul could spend the rest of his career with Newcastle Diamonds Newcastle Diamonds motorcycle Speedway currently compete in the British Premier League. The club has a reputation of importing young foreign talent and have given starts to the British careers of six times World Champion Ivan Mauger, three times World Champion Ole Olsen and 2003 .

He takes a well-deserved testimonial meeting at Brough Park tomorrow (3.00) - and fans will be relieved to hear he has no intention of just taking the money and riding off into the sunset.

Juul said: "I am more or less happy to carry on as long as somebody wants me to ride for them as a second string.

"As long as I can do that and feel happy I'll keep going on.

"I will ride for a few more years and if Newcastle want me to ride for them I think we are probably talking about another three or four seasons."

Tomorrow's match is between a Newcastle Select side and Elite League champions of two years ago, Wolverhampton, on whose books Juul has been since 1995.

Although Juul is best known as a Newcastle rider, it's his 10 year as a Wolverhampton asset which has earned him the testimonial, so a match between the two clubs is entirely appropriate.

Juul will captain the select side, a powerful-looking outfit comprising Bjarne Pedersen Bjarne Pedersen (born 12 July 1978 in Holstebro, Denmark) is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider who most recently took part in the 2006 Speedway Grand Prix season. Career highlights

Juul added: "I would like to thank everyone from both Newcastle and Wolverhampton for putting together such a strong line-up for my meeting.

"We do not get many chances to see big names like Sam Ermolenko and Mikael Max at Brough Park and I know they will be determined to stop me being on the winning side."

Also tomorrow, the Newcastle Ultrafast Gems race their first Conference League match of the season at the home of reigning champions Mildenhall, a tough fixture if ever there was one.
