The netScore data reveals that BizRate.com had the highest BPI (673), reflecting the heavy online shopping behavior of the site's visitors. As would be expected, many sites in the shopping category generally had audiences with the highest BPIs; for example, staples staples

"For the first time, we can measure the quality of audience traffic along with the quantity. The BPI provides a new metric that advertisers should use when placing ad buys," said Doug Knopper, Vice President and General Manager of Diameter. "The BPI allows our customers to determine the buying capacity of any site's visitors, thereby providing the fundamental information needed to fully understand and value site traffic."

Buying Power Index (BPITM): Provides a metric to determine the value of a website's audience based on the amount of money its visitors spend online across the Internet. The BPI (TM) is a relative measure of the buying power of a site's visitors compared to the total Internet and is expressed as an index. The BPI (TM) is calculated as follows:

(Internet Dollars Spent by a particular Site's visitors / Total number of Site's Visitors) /(Total Internet Dollars Spent by all Internet Visitors/ Total Unique Internet Visitors)) x 100

The BPI is just one measure in a suite of tools that Diameter and comScore offer to clients so they may better understand online behavior, purchasing patterns and detailed analysis of online campaigns.
