"We're constantly hearing stories from agencies across the country about the tremendous success they're having with The Communicator in enhancing community-oriented policing A philosophy that combines traditional aspects of law enforcement with prevention measures, problem-solving, community engagement, and community partnerships.

From the 1930s to the 1960s, U.S. law enforcement relied on a professional policing model.
(COP) programs, raising safety and awareness levels, and providing other services for local communities," said Dave Krikac, DCC VP of Marketing. "DCC's grant program recognizes the critical role The Communicator plays in law enforcement operations and extends the opportunity to achieve those successes to agencies in need."

DCC established the grant in response to the growing need for agencies to distribute accurate and reliable information in a timely and cost-effective manner. By deploying The Communicator to automate internal and community notification procedures, agencies have achieved tremendous results in terms of cost savings, safety, speed and accuracy. The grant opens the window of opportunity to even more operations to take advantage of the benefits the system offers to law enforcement agencies A law enforcement agency (LEA) is a term used to describe any agency which enforces the law. This may be a local or state police, federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).  and their communities.

About The Communicator

From a single PC interface or remote touch-tone activation, the system contacts individuals or groups regardless of size (from a small task team to an entire county) by phone, pager and cellular; delivers incident-specific information and life-saving instruction; confirms message receipt through touch-tone response; and prints/faxes comprehensive reports detailing notification results for immediate confirmation and live status of call-out missions.

Agencies are successfully using The Communicator for timely communication and collaboration with Neighborhood Watch, Mobile Watch and Citizens On Patrol groups; as well as other community-oriented policing initiatives. For instance, when robberies occur, the system notifies Neighborhood Watch groups, businesses, pharmacies, convenience stores The following is a list of convenience stores organized by geographical location. Stores are grouped by the lowest heading that contains all locales in which the brands have significant presence.  and pawnshops, providing event-related details, and prompting witnesses to call in with information to aid police.

During a crime incident or other emergency event, The Communicator's touch-tone response option serves as a confidential "electronic interview" allowing eyewitnesses (in the safety and privacy of their homes or businesses) to relay relative information to dispatchers. This gives officers access to the most current information available and further enhances the accuracy with which they can pursue suspects and gather information.

The Communicator's flexibility enables callouts to be used for a wide range of events beyond COP. In the event of lost children or wandering elders, the system notifies residents for swift, community-wide action. Other applications of the system include: automated wellness checks for the elderly; pharmacy and bank alerts to scams, counterfeit To falsify, deceive, or defraud. A copy or imitation of something that is intended to be taken as authentic and genuine in order to deceive another.
