Kidney disease is a general term for any damage that reduces the functioning of the kidney. Kidney disease is also called renal disease.
. Kidney malfunction may go undetected by current methods of testing until 80% or more of the kidney is damaged. The technology is quick, easy to use and inexpensive, providing front-line testing for early detection before the kidney degenerates or fails. The claims include monitoring, screening and adjunctive testing for renal (kidney) insufficiency and renal (kidney) failure due to diabetes, hypertension and monoclonal gammopathies. DiaSys Corporation has also presented an additional device claim to include a home testing configuration of its technology.

Gregory Witchel, Chief Executive Officer of DiaSys Corporation said, " This technology will be able to detect a problem earlier than current methods, improving the patient's chances to avoid kidney damage kidney damage Kidney injury Nephrology A structural or functional compromise in renal function due to external–eg, athletic, occupational, or other trauma, resulting in bruising or hemorrhage, which can be profuse and life threatening Etiology Vascular  and failure. Early detection and monitoring of kidney disease resulting from diabetes, hypertension or monoclonal gammopathies, can improve the quality of care for a large and growing number of patients. In the United States there is a need to monitor over 400,000 patients diagnosed each year with these conditions. The number of patients who are screened each year who can benefit from early detection using the company's technology are over 90 million."
