Nine of the discoveries are in the Core Zone claims (97 known pipes to this date) and two are within the Buffer Zone claims (39 known pipes to this date). Microdiamond results were received for the summer exploration drilling program. Three of the kimberlite discoveries produced significant microdiamond results, and these data are summarised below. The results listed were obtained from analysis of split NQ drill core samples submitted to Lakefield Research. Drill holes 00-17, 00-25 and 00-26 were drilled with dips of 53(degrees), 45(degrees) and 50(degrees), respectively. Drill hole 00-17 provided two kimberlite pipe wall contacts whereas drill holes 00-25 and 00-26 were abandoned within kimberlite. The Pegasus and Wildebeest wildebeest: see gnu. pipes are located in the Buffer Zone approximately 22 km east of the Ekati(tm) plant site. The Kodiak pipe is located within the Core Zone.

Also, the reverse circulation drilling program to prove the Panda underground reserve was completed. About 300 tonnes of kimberlite was recovered of which 75 tonnes was within the proposed underground portion of the pipe. Preliminary drilling results from the reverse circulation program and the deep core drilling program indicate that the volume of kimberlite at depth is consistent with original pipe modeling. More details on the Panda underground reserves (including tonnage and grade estimates) will be provided when available. A significant milestone was achieved at Ekati(tm) on November 14, 2000, when production reached five million carats of rough diamonds since the project commenced operation in October 1998. Large diamonds continue to be recovered including a recent low quality182.6-carat stone.
