Producers of Blood Diamond - about the civil war in Sierra Leone over control of diamond mines - have already been criticised for using amputees as extras. Now it has been revealed crew member Edward Visage lost his hand when an explosive device went off. A source in South Africa said: "Warner Bros were too cheap to bring in a special-effects guy from the US. "They used a local guy and he lost a hand." But another source said: "Visage is a professional special-effects technician. The studio has provided him with a prosthetic pros·thet·ic adj. 1. Serving as or relating to a prosthesis. 2.
